Decent, but ads are annoying

This is a decent app with a simple interface. Easy to find stuff by area or by popularity. But some of the ads are incredibly annoying. They cannot be minimized, and the "x" is actually clicks through the app, opening Safari and the App Store. To circumvent this, you have to close the app and reopen and hope you get a less invasive ad. I understand you need ad revenue to support free apps, but there is a way to do it without ruining the UX.
